History and Summary of WALLIE'S DINER

My wife and I opened WALLIE’S July 1^st 1998 at 108 East 11^th Street In Tracy. The Drive-In was formerly WALT’S Drive-In, built in 1962. Using only the highest quality and the best possible ingredients for our Burgers and Sandwiches, Wallie’s soon became the towns favorite. Wallie’s has won the “Best Of Tracy” award for its burgers the past eleven years in a row, and an occasional win for best “Hot Dog. In 2008 Wallie’s was elected “Best Burger In San Joaquin” by the San Joaquin Magazine.

There has been two movies filmed at Wallie’s including the star filled movie “Punch Card Player” and three movies filmed as Walt’s Drive-In including the 50’s movie “ The Return Of Valentino”. Wallie’s has been featured on “California Back Roads” and on the food channels
“Best Burger” documentary. Wallie’s was voted one of the top 5 (five) “Best Food” in Northern California “Burgers” published by the Tri Valley Herald in 2002. Wallie’s has been used for the background in several posters and advertisements.

In 1999 we expanded the Wallie’s empire by opening in Manteca, CA. and again in 2000 in Modesto. Unfortunately the locations we choose proved to be a little shorter lived than the Tracy Legacy. The Modesto location was a Del Taco on Yosemite Ave. that had closed. In less than two years the building we leased was sold to the homeless shelter which now occupies the entire block. The Manteca location was in the Low Shopping Center where parking soon became a very big problem. Although we were there for 5 years, the term of the lease, we choose not to renew, the new cigarette store became a unpleasant problem. Wallie's opened in Ripon, May of 2008 and reopened in Manteca April 2009.

Wallie’s emphasis is top quality ingredients, friendly service and a 50’s style diner that caters to the “Family” atmosphere with old fashioned soda fountains, ice-cream parlors and the jute box.
